Timer Position
We have an immediate opportunity for a part-time Race Timer to join our professional and talented team of weekend road warriors.
Atlantic Chip supports more than 120 events across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Maine with event logistics/management, timing services, and product procurement. Events range from road-running, cross-country, trail-running, cycling, swimming, triathlon (multi-sport), and other types of active sport.
Based out of Nova Scotia or New Brunswick, the successful candidate must have weekend availability (primarily between April – November ) and enthusiastically embrace early mornings, physical labour, as well as the Maritime’s varying outdoor elements (rain, sun, and, yes, even snow at times!). You are also technically competent, have excellent trouble-shooting and interpersonal skills and a passion to thrive in our industry’s fast-paced, time-sensitive and at times stressful environment.
Responsibilities:
Learn and competently operate specialized race databases and timing/scoring software
Set-up of computers and computer network on-site
Enter and manage race day registrations and various participant/event changes
Perform race day timing functions providing fast and accurate results
Set-up equipment such as an inflatable arch, timing systems, pylons, barriers, etc.
Work closely with Race Directors, Race Volunteers, & Race Participants
Qualifications:
Ability to take initiative as well as follow direction
Work both independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Must be highly organized and able to perform under pressure
Advanced computer skills with the ability to quickly troubleshoot problems
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data entry is ideal
Ability to travel and work weekends and select holidays
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
MUST HAVE VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE AND CLEAN DRIVING RECORD
